Holiday Liver Pate

1 lb. chicken livers
2 tbs. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. sugar
1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
1 cup unsalted butter
2 tsp. dry mustard
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. each, nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves
1/2 cup dried currants
1/4 cup apple brandy (Applejack)

Saute livers in 2 tbs. butter until browned and tender. Cool. Place in food processor and add remaining ingredients, except currants, and process until smooth. Stir in currants and chill. Serve with quality crackers.
