Mulled Apple Cider

1 quart quality apple cider (you can use juice but cider is the best)
1/4 cup sweet wine (white or port)
1/4 cup orange juice
2 tbs. brown sugar
4 - 5 inch strand of orange peel
3 cinnamon sticks
4 whole cloves
(optional: 1/2 tsp. chopped candied ginger)

Place all ingredients in a heavy sauce pot and heat just to a boil. Reduce heat to low and steep for 1-2 hours. Serve through a strainer and return spices to pot. You may double the recipe but do not double the cinnamon sticks and cloves.
